If you’re in charge of social media for your company, or you do your own social media, it can be a challenge to plan out your content, can’t it? And if you have more than one person involved in that planning, you both need to be on the same page so there’s a clear strategy and no overlapping of work.
Jenny does our social media, but Katie often pops in as well. To keep everything straight, we use a Google Sheet with an imported calendar. Here’s how we organize it:
Every day has a theme (Sundays are quotes, Mondays are blogposts, etc.)
We plan the content out for the month on the calendar – it’s no fun posting at the last minute!
We aim for a mix of graphics/pretty pics, email marketing/copywriting tips, info about what we do/who we are, fun posts, and reposts from our friends and clients.
When the post is scheduled, we add a background color to that day on the calendar so we know it’s done.
If Jenny needs Katie to schedule on a particular day, she highlights that day in green on the calendar.
When we stick to this schedule, everything is covered and we enjoy our work more. If you cover social media for your company, what are some of your best tips? And P.S. This type of content planning can work well with regular email and newsletter content, too!
