Day 28: Thank Your Customer – For Real!
“Katie, you’re the best!”
That was the creepy personalization that accompanied a coupon for $5 off my order of $50 or more from my favorite clothing store.
Y’all, that is NOT a thank you.
A thank you is a GREAT offer or a free gift with purchase or a BOGO. With the amount of money I spend every year at some stores, I should, at the very least, get a note in the mail saying thank you.
We spend SO MUCH time placating the screamers that we can neglect our great customers.
When planning your content calendar, make room to send your amazing customers an amazing (limited time offer) deal every now and then!
If you have a brick-and-mortar business, make up a few gift packets, a free plant, a bunch of flowers – maybe your vendors would partner with you to make a few small gift baskets – and invite your besties to come in.
Or, don’t. But don’t send “Hi Katie – you’re our best customer, here’s 10% off” emails. That’s insulting.
Better to not have emailed at all.
