The best way to get people to read your emails and blog posts? Create snappy titles that people won’t forget. Copywriter Rachel says that intriguing titles make people want to read more.
Use alliteration, puns, action verbs, interesting adjectives, or even oddball phrases (we’ll get to that in a minute). However you structure your titles, though, be sure it reflects your brand’s voice. If your brand is more formal and educational, quirky titles won’t flow — and if your brand is on the weird side, avoid boring and straightforward at all costs!
Katie’s email newsletters are (in)famous for their oddball titles. Invariably, they make readers think, “Ok, what on earth is she writing about NOW? I have to read this.” A few of her recent titles include:
And a Cherry on Top
Sparkling Liquid Death
Fool Me Once
Not the Toenail!
Guac is Extra
Katie uses her titles to draw the reader in, then she tells a story and ties it into a business/marketing tip. This may not be *your* style, but you definitely have a style/voice/personality that should always be reflected in your business’s writing, starting with the title.
